In case you missed Shen Wei in Los Angeles
This weekend - Gloria Cheng and FLUX Quartet with Shen Wei Dance Arts, March 21-22,2008 In Washington, DC Info: www.kennedy-center.org

The sumptuous choreography of Chinese artist Shen Wei is intoxicating. Accomplished in virtually all the visual arts--including painting, design, and filmmaking--Shen Wei's dance compositions display a striking visual richness.

"If there is something to write home about in the dance world, it is the startlingly imaginative work of Shen Wei. His vision is painterly, mathematical, and idiosyncratic" (The New York Times). In Connect Transfer, this resident company of the Kennedy Center realizes his painterly vision as a literal product of the dance. The audience watches a work of art come to life right before its eyes as 12 dancers perform "live action painting" using multiple colors of paint on a trapezoid-shaped white canvas. The changing interactions result in a different creation each evening. Live music is performed by pianist Gloria Cheng and the FLUX Quartet.
